Parking Lot Safety

License-plate recognition (LPR) — sometimes searched for as a "parking lot scanner" — reads the plates it can actually see. On your existing cameras, accuracy comes down to a few physical factors worth checking before you rely on a lane:

• Camera angle. A near-straight-on view of the plate reads far better than a steep side or overhead angle.
• Plate pixel size & image quality. The plate needs enough pixels across to resolve characters — a wide-area camera that shows the whole lane usually can't also read plates.
• Vehicle speed. Entrances, exits and gates, where vehicles slow down, read far more reliably than fast through-traffic where motion blur costs characters.
• Lighting, glare & weather. Headlight bloom, low sun, rain, snow and a muddy plate all reduce reads; dedicated or IR-assisted lighting at the lane helps.
• Entry & exit lanes. Aim LPR where vehicles line up single-file and slow, rather than at open drive aisles.

QORA can capture the plate's jurisdiction (issuing state) and match reads against allow/deny watchlists you configure for gates and access control, keeping a searchable history under your retention and access controls. Every watchlist match is a candidate for human confirmation before anyone acts.

Customer-enabled feature. Jurisdiction and watchlist matching is optional and off until you turn it on. You configure the watchlists and are solely responsible for their contents and for ensuring your use of plate matching complies with all applicable laws and regulations in your jurisdiction. QORA provides the tooling and keeps a human in the loop; it does not provide legal advice.

Plate-reading limitations — plainly

• QORA reads visible license plates when image quality permits.
• It does not guarantee that every plate will be captured or read correctly.
• It does not infer a vehicle owner's identity from the image alone.
• It does not use facial recognition unless that is separately approved and enabled under the applicable controls.
